We would also like to thank all of you who have remembered and helped us through donations and adoptions this year. We are very grateful to all of our friends. Now, Pat is not going to play on your sympathy. We understand that some are having tough times, but please remember us and our homeless four-legged babies in your thoughts and prayers should you be unable to make a donation at this time. We wish you lots of life's pleasures and more of God's blessings. Happy Holidays!

Happy Birthday
Pat
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our lady in charge, Pat Long, on Monday, November 9th. Without her, A Pet For Life, Inc. would not exist and many animals with special needs would not have found a 'forever home.'
Personally, Pat is a very important person in my life. She's been my rock, helping me through some pretty rough times. I am so blessed to have her as my neighbor and my very dear friend. She deserves to have a wonderful day, not just today, but every day through the year. ~ Kat

Attention:

I received this via email yesterday and wanted to share this with all of our animal lovers as a reminder of the cruelty so many animals face on a daily basis. If something looks suspicious, please report it to help abused "babies" have a better life. My source is Dogster.com from 07/14/09. ~ Kat

Multi-State Dog Fighting Ring Busted
Last week, hundreds of dogs were seized (mostly Pit Bulls) and 25-30 people were arrested during raids conducted in multiple U.S. states. The raids were the largest coordinated rescue in U.S. history, suggesting that the popularity of the lucrative blood sport is at an all-time high: in the U.S. alone, an estimated 40,000 people are involved in organized rings, another 100,000 in "street" dog fighting.

Handsome Hansel, our Maine Coon long-haired cat, was adopted on Saturday, July 11, 2009. We wish him the best of luck with his new family. It's always a wonderful day when one of our babies finds a loving family.

Approximately January 2002 - July 10, 2009
APFL is mourning the sudden loss of our adorable Gretel who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 10th. She leaves behind her brother, Hansel, and many who loved her dearly. She will be missed.

In Memory Of Aggie Mae
June 18, 2006 - July 2, 2009

Due to chronic skin issues and unpredictable, unprovoked aggression, A Pet For Life, Inc. had to say 'goodbye' to Aggie Mae who was humanely euthanized on Thursday, 7/2/09. APFL only euthanizes an animal as a last resort, but when aggression appears, we cannot, with a clear conscience, risk placing such a dog with a family.

In Memory Of
M. Wayne Simmons
(10/12/1943 - 06/23/2009)

We would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to our faithful volunteer, Kim Bradshaw and her family. Mr. Simmons, Kim's father, passed away suddenly on June 23rd. Kim and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Here are some pictures of Callie (formerly known as Scruffy) and Reilly having a bone fest. They are getting along great with no issues with food, toys or bones. They happily trade rawhides back and forth with no hard feelings. Callie loves to sleep on Reilly's big tail and he doesn't seem to mind at all. Lilly is tolerating the addition of Callie, and other than a few hisses here and there they are okay.
Patty Conry ~ 06/23/09

Scruffy, our female Cairn Terrier Mix went to live with her new family on Sunday, June 21, 2009.

In Memory Of Rex
January 7, 1997 - June 10, 2009

We at A Pet For Life, Inc. would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to Carlton & Kim Bradshaw and their family. Yesterday, twelve-year-old Rex passed away, leaving behind his loving family. (06/11/09)

This is a picture of James Dunn with one of our rescued dogs, Lexi. On June 2nd, he celebrated his birthday. As one of his birthday surprises, he received a gift card which he used to purchase presents for our four-legged babies. We would like to thank him for his generosity in sharing his celebration.

Pictured above are Taylor, Billy, and Koda. Our Koda, who was adopted on 02/06/09, is doing well in his new home with his loving family. Thank you for giving one of our babies a forever home. (06/04/09)

Toby, our sweet Yellow Lab Mix went to live with his new family on Sunday, June 14, 2009.

"Hi. I'm Zoe. I'm an approximately three and a half (3-1/2) year old
Border Collie Mix, weighing around eighteen (18) pounds."

"Hello. My name is Terry. Weighing around twenty-eight (28) pounds,
I'm a Border Collie Mix who is around three and a half (3-1/2) years old."

Zoe and Terry were delivered to APFL on June 4, 2009 from Pennsylvania. These two dogs were part of a group of twenty-nine dogs (29) seized from a collector. The case has since been resolved and we were asked to help with some of these dogs. We chose Zoe and Terry. Both are very sweet dogs who need to develop some socialization skills since they have had limited interaction with people. (06/10/09)

Cassie, our sweet German Shepherd/Beagle Mix who was adopted on 02/19/2009 has returned to APFL on Tuesday, April 28, 2009.  Unfortunately for Cassie, she and the family who adopted her weren't the appropriate match, so we're looking for another "forever home."04/28/2009

Born on 02/18/08, Tater is a sweet little sixteen (16) pound, fourteen (14) month old, Bichon/Shih Tzu who came to us on Monday, April 13, 2009. He was given to a senior lady for companionship, but his youthful energy was a little more than she could handle. He is a handsome boy. 04/18/09

In Memory Of BooBoo
May 21, 2007 - January 19, 2009

After battling a short, aggressive illness, our sweet little BooBoo took her final walk across The Rainbow Bridge on January 19, 2009. At the first signs of something being wrong with BooBoo, she was treated by our regular veterinarian with medication and numerous tests, but even with treatment, less than two weeks after her initial symptoms, BooBoo was humanely let go to prevent any suffering. She leaves behind her foster mothers, Joyce Sides and Pat. Her last months on this earth were safe, comfortable and full of love. "BooBoo was such a sweet soul who left us much too soon. She will be terribly missed."
